Murr TV (MTV) is guilty of racism against foreigners in Lebanon, but what is the proper response?

The Internet, Facebook, Twitter, Blogs and some media are up in arms against MTV (Murr TV - Lebanon) for its serial blatantly racist reports and shows. I posted on this issue on and on and I got interviewed the other day in relation to migrant domestic workers. There's also an uproar against a one year old video, presumably a funny sketch, attacking Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

In the words of Ahmed The Dead Terrorist, it is not funny!

But what is the proper response? Here's Beirut Spring's take. Here's my quote in Now Lebanon:

“There is a very thin line between being stupid and being funny and MTV just doesn’t get the difference,” said Wissam al-Saliby from the Ethiopian Suicides blog. “And we’re not just talking about abuse anymore, the problem has expanded. Now we’re talking about slavery, trafficking and sometimes sexual enslavement.”

“So some people are calling for shutting down MTV, which is unacceptable, said Saliby. “But what is equally unacceptable is not sanctioning this or finding a way to prevent this from happening in the future.”
